About Us

Playing With Images

Experimento Lúdico first opened its doors in 2010. Cristian Carretero and Lorraine Jones, the managing directors, are a husband and wife team that has been working together for 13 years. We are currently based out of Mayagüez, a town on the west coast of Puerto Rico.

Our mission is to make cinema that not only entertains, but also creates a social impact.  We want our films to work as a point of reflection where we can explore the human condition. There is also a need to create a stronger film culture in Puerto Rico. When people recognize themselves on screen they acquire a greater sense of self-worth. We have been accustomed to watching industrial Hollywood movies, but our national cinema should develop its own language that speaks to our specific reality.

We have built a network of filmmakers with an undying passion for cinema, who want to help tell stories that would otherwise remain unheard. We have worked with activists, artists, politicians, social workers, journalists, scientists, and farmers. We go against the dictates of conventional filmmaking in the search for something unique and iconic.

The company offers a wide array of services ranging from development to pre-production, production, and post-production. Our clients include CNN, HBO, Field of Vision, The Macallan, Univision, National Geographic, i24, The Intercept, Chicago Cubs, UPR, Banco Popular, First Look Media, WIPR TV, Fem Trap, BembaPR, Blacks Crackle Films, Brut TV, Loveless Productions, Newport Folk Festival, Tres en un Zapato, and Rumbo al Éxito. Our work has been internationally shown in venues such as the Montreal Film Festival, Denver Film Festival, Habana Film Festival, Sydney Latin American Film Festival, San Francisco Short Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, BAM Cinematek, and Festival de Cine de Huelva.
